Preamble

If you're seeing this page, you've been selected to be a private beta tester. Over the next two weeks you will be evaluating Frantic Software's new product FCloud. Specifically, you will be evaluating Cloud Store, a cloud storage service.

What will I be evaluating?

You will be evaluating Cloud Store, its functionality, usefulness, interface, support, possible updates, and convenience. You will also be evaluating the onboarding process (The setup process you go through on first logon) the logon interface/functionality, and support experience (if needed)

When evaluating, there are some key things to keep in mind.

  • Cloud store is still in beta is guaranteed to have bugs and glitches.
  • Some features are still missing (see below)
  • This is not the final version, the interface, functionality, and features are subject to change.
  • The overall feeling of the service. Do you think Cloud Store has potential? Will you continue to be a user? Is it useful to you?

What will I NOT be evaluating?

Other features and services are still completely unfinished, and should not be included in your final review. The following features and services are not subject for review

  • Other services in the sidebar (Satellite, Prairie, Fargo, Lustre, and Spectre)
  • The home of the dashboard, as it is unfinished and only contains dummy data.
  • The documentation

What missing features or current issues with Cloud Store should I know about?

Since this is still an early beta, there is a handful of missing features or bugs that may impact your experience.

  • File uploads over 1GB in size currently do not work
  • Password resets are currently not set up.
  • There is a white flash on web page load. This isn't a big issue, but it's annoying.
  • Sometimes on page load, it says "You aren't logged on" for a second. This is not a big issue but don't be alarmed by it. If the error stays for longer than a second or two, you are not logged on.
  • Uploading multiple files at a time doesn't work currently.

Updates

Over your two week testing period, updates will be rolling out from time to time. When this happens, you'll see a notification on the Home page in your dashboard, with a link to see what was updated.

Additional beta testing information

As a thank you for beta testing for us, you'll get 2TB (Two Terabytes) of storage for free for the first year of being signed up (Till February 2025). After that, you will be paying the normal Cloud Store price ($0.009/Gigabyte used).

During the private betas (there will be multiple rounds of private betas.) you should NOT store anything mission-critical or things that you cannot lose, as thing can go wrong, data durability is not guaranteed. You will automatically be re-invited to join the next beta round. When new services are ready for beta testing, you'll automatically become a beta tester for those services too. When you're beta testing for FCloud, you are using everything availible, not just one specific service, unless asked to do so.
